can anyone tell me what they have paid for private (one on one) voice lessons - balkan/bulgarian or other similarly obscure vocal traditions?

Re: private voice lessons - cost?
Tue, January 16, 2007 - 4:20 PMThat sounds about right. My trio recently had a 2-hour lesson with Carl Linich for Georgian technique and I think we paid him about $30 each. The best $30 I ever spent. I also spent $40 for an hour with Tzevtanka Varimezova. -

Re: private voice lessons - cost?
Tue, January 16, 2007 - 9:40 PMThat's really inexpensive.
Most reputable guitar, bass and drum teachers are charging $50/hour these days. -

Re: private voice lessons - cost?
Tue, January 16, 2007 - 10:03 PMTheres usually a difference if you're paying for lessons as part of a group, versus if you're an individual.
I'm paying $45 an hour for private Rom violin lessons right now- that's comparable to the 'rarity' of Corinna's musical skills . Corinna already knows what Carol Freeman charges (I can't remember) which I think is different if it's a private one-on-one lesson versus a small group of three or four students. With the Bulgarian music it makes sense to learn in a group since much of hte music is about group singing.
