Bai Stoyan Velichkov, former orchestra member and kaval soloist
with the Folklore Instrument Ensemble at B. N. R. died in Sofia, Friday morning,
22. VI. 2008. He had a unique lyrical tone colour and was always artistically true
to his Strandzha folkloric roots. To this day, he remains the most widely recorded
Bulgarian kaval soloist of traditional repertoire.
